HP Designjet 5000 and 5500 Series Printers - TWI: System Error 0C0040

In this document:

This system error appears when the printer detects that the same area of nozzles does not work in different printheads. The possible causes are either fibers or paper in the Drop Detect sensor, or that the Scan-Axis reference is incorrect. Follow the steps listed below to determine the actual cause of the error and to replace the necessary parts.

The steps below are designed to achieve remote resolution of the issue. If the troubleshooting steps below appear to resolve the issue, attempt to verify functionality by printing several internal prints. If the issue persists following the steps below, generate a CSO for service.

  1. Turn the printer off, using the main power switch located on the back of the printer.
  2. After 10-15 seconds, turn the main power switch on.
  3. If no error appears, attempt to verify printer functionality.

  8. If problems persist, perform the calibrations listed below in the order of their appearance:
    1. Scan-Axis calibration
    2. Service Station calibration
    3. Accuracy calibration
  1. If the problem persists, generate a CSO for service (send ALL required parts as listed below).
